Tips To Keep Your Costs Down
Using a good quality recorder and setting it to high quality stereo will create much higher quality recordings, which will lower your cost because we won't have to rewind to re-listen so much to hear what was said. You can get an excellent quality recorder for only about $20 more than a poor quality one. The slight additional cost will quickly be made up by reduced transcription costs. An added bonus will be that it will result in much more accurate transcripts.
See Resources Section
Our Resources section includes information and tips on all types of recording equipment, including digital audio recorders, iPhones, BlackBerrys, using GarageBand to record Skype calls on a Mac, mics and telephone adapters (cables that run from your telephone to your recorder to improve the recording quality) as well as information on where you can buy these items.
Our Resources section also includes all kinds of great tips to help interviewers and group facilitators manage a wide variety of issues which commonly come up, such distance from mic, mumbling, whispering, over-talking and speakers in groups not identifying themselves. An interview or group which has been well managed will be much faster and easier for us to transcribe, which will help to reduce your costs. An added bonus will be increased accuracy.
